Weston Honoured At Seal Of Approval

WESTON ONE OF 9 SOMERSET CLUBS HONOURED AT SEAL OF APPROVAL PRESENTATION

Nine rugby clubs in Somerset will be honoured on Friday evening when they officially receive their Rugby Football Union Seal of Approval Accreditation.

Chard RFC, Frome RFC, Gordano RFC, Midsomer Norton RFC, Taunton RFC, Yatton RFC, Keynsham RFC, Nailsea & Backwell RFC and Weston Super Mare RFC have all successfully qualified for the award, which they will be presented with at Bath Rugby Club ahead of  England?s Under 20s match against Scotland on Friday February 2nd.

The RFU, in conjunction with Sport England, introduced the Seal of Approval scheme in 2002 in an attempt to increase and sustain the number of youngsters participating in rugby at grass roots level. Clubs are assessed by the RFU and must demonstrate evidence of good practice in areas such as administration, development, duty of care, sports equity and playing programme.

Jon Bendle, the RFU?s rugby development officer for Somerset, said: ?It?s extremely pleasing to see these nine clubs gaining the RFU Seal of Approval Accreditation.

?Each club has worked extremely hard to ensure they meet the expected standards, and many are now striving to continue to improve their provisions for both the mini and junior members of their clubs.?

RFU Junior Vice President Brian Williams and RFU Clubs Manager Andy Lees will be making the presentations on the evening.
