Weston Colts travelled to the Portway Rugby Centre for the Bristol Colts League knock out final hoping that they could banish all thoughts of their previous two encounters against a crack Bristol side whom they had finished runners up to in the league.
In atrocious conditions a magnificent encounter ensued. Weston defended courageously from the outset but once again their propensity to give away silly penalties early on could have cost them dear. But
If Bristol thought that Weston were going to lay down then they were very much mistaken and a period of sustained pressure by the Weston pack got them up to near the Bristol line and with time running out they were awarded a penalty in front of the posts which fly half James Mackay converted with ease to level the match and secure a share of the trophy.
With Price Clarke and Thomas once again having great games together with Bloor Saunders and Bearden in the pack the backs selection proved to be shrewd with the centre partnership of Robinson and Roberts keeping the gate shut all evening but it was Trott and the unsung but effective Dillon who gained most of the plaudits on the night.
